The Time to Ask Again:
Is Somebody Else On the Moon?

So why did we cancel our lunar missions? No plans for more lunar missions in America’s future. Decreased funding for our once thriving space agency steadily negates any definitive answer to this ever provocative moon mystery, as well ...

(STARpod.org) -- In the early 1990s during a broadcast of my first radio program, I hosted a researcher who was looking into lunar questions, and it piqued my curiosity. The George Leonard book “Somebody Else is on the Moon” was mentioned, along with descriptions of a number of Leonard’s photographs. Shortly thereafter, I was contacted at UFO Magazine by lunar researcher Jim Sylvan. We had an extensive chat, with Sylvan eventually sending me a number of photographs (all ones that Leonard had referenced) that Sylvan had obtained from NASA. Seeing his copies, all more detailed that what I could see in Leonard’s book, I was amazed. I quietly began my own research on lunar phenomena at that point, and soon discovered that the more research I conducted, the more questions were raised.

As the decade progressed, I broadcast a number of programs concerned with lunar phenomena, including NASA’s involvement and how that agency reacted to legitimate questions and criticism concerning lunar secrecy and other similar matters. In one famous example occurring in October of 1992, a scandal erupted when it was discovered that the agency was instructing employees how to circumvent Freedom of Information requests. “This NASA document instructs government employees to: 1. re-write and even destroy documents ‘to minimize adverse impact’; 2. mix up documents and camouflage handwriting so that the document’s significance would be ‘less meaningful’; 3. take steps to ‘enhance the utility of various FOIA exemptions,’ ” according to Howard Wolpe (D-Michigan) a Michigan member of Congress. Wolpe brought this before NASA administrator Richard H. Truly, who vowed to “clean house.” Later Truly was fired from his position by Vice President Dan Quayle.

Another potential scandal also involved NASA management and still unanswered questions regarding the Mars Observer probe. A billion-plus dollar investment to further study Mars was on the horizon, prompting a major public campaign to force NASA to include cameras on-board. (As crazy as it sounds, at the time questions swirled around the so-called “Face on Mars” and originally no cameras were intended to be on this probe). In August, 1992, Hurricane Andrew made landfall in Florida and major devastation followed. On August 25 when the capsule was examined, serious contamination was discovered even though the craft had been connected to nitrogen system--apparently to ensure no possible contamination. The question arose--just what was found? As later described, the debris inside the enclosed capsule resembled “floor sweepings,” as if someone had swept up the floor post hurricane and dumped the matter into the capsule. Even more curious, however, was what was discovered on the camera: A greasy material smeared over the camera lenses. Had the camera been used in the planned mission, the resulting photographs would have been unusable. An investigation was conducted but the results were “inconclusive.”

The probe was launched in Sept. of 1992 to begin its 11-month journey to Mars. In August 21, 1993, contact with the Mars Observer was lost three days out from Mars orbit. NASA decided to “reboot” the probe: Shut the systems off and turn them back on. When they did, no further contact with the craft was regained. Oops!

Exciting times were promised when President Kennedy challenged the United States to put a man on the Moon and return him safely before the decade was out. America entered the space age with a roar, but at that time had fallen behind in the space program. We were racing to keep up with the Soviet Union in order to recoup our superiority. The Russians, many will recall, had launched the first successful satellite into space in 1957. It was also the Russians who had launched the first human into space. Yet at that time, more often than not, when we tried to launch a vehicle into space it blew up on the launch pad. At that point, President Eisenhower decided to take the missile program away from the armed services and create a new agency, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA. The stage was set for what turned out to be the “Roaring Sixties,” and brother, did they roar.

Money began to really pump into the space program, and the results were up there for all to see. In relatively quick succession, the Mercury, Gemini and finally the Apollo programs were placed in high gear. But there was a dark side to all this, too. In 1963, the president was assassinated, the civil rights marches began and the ugly side of humanity ascended with Jim Crowe on display in the deep South. The Viet Nam war exploded into deadly action, then more and more civil strife took center stage. Yet the space race went rolling along, the goal to reach the Moon still at the forefront. At the time it seemed like , humans in space was to be a fait accompli. Feature films like “2001- A Space Odyssey” were massive hits. The moon race with the Soviets seemed to take on a sense of urgency, then tragedy struck when three of our beloved astronauts were killed aboard Apollo 1 during capsule tests. The space race had its price.

By December of 1968 NASA was ready to approach the moon for real when Apollo 8 was launched on the 21st. Borman, Lovell and Anders were the first human beings to travel beyond low Earth orbit, arriving in lunar orbit where they made 10 full circles. The stage was really set for what became the historic Apollo 11 landing on July 20, 1969. Another close call happened with Apollo 13, but that turned into a win with the successful return of the astronauts. The United States via NASA ended up making a half- dozen landings on the moon. Then this tremendous flow of advances into space was inexplicably shut off, NASA explaining that the “American people lost interest in the Moon,” but that never made sense. Is it possible there were other reasons?

In 1976, Science writer George Leonard wrote the book mentioned above, “Somebody Else is on the Moon.” What was arguably a breakthrough book for all time seemed to vanish almost as soon as it made it to the bookstore shelves. In it, Leonard shared a number of NASA photographs that seemed to detail artificial structures and objects on the moon. His thesis was that our NASA astronauts encountered impossible artifacts on the lunar surface, structures described by Leonard as being huge beyond belief that would not or could not be missed by our space crews. Yet to a man, and to this day, none of the astronauts who landed there ever admitted observing anything unexplained. But doubts remain that these speculative artifacts could be missed. And, if truth be known, it can be suggested that NASA knew.

Prior to the first successful Apollo landing, NASA commissioned an academic study on lunar phenomena. Back in the 1950s and early 1960s astronomers still observed our moon and many anomalies were documented. The report, titled NASA TR- R277 was received by NASA and even this “limited” study cited 400 years of detailed observations made by world renowned astronomers.

In November of 1995, I conducted one of the most (if not the most) amazing interview ever, with a man named Vito Sacchari. At the time an engineer in the petrochemical field, Sacchari told of his amazing 1979 odyssey with NASA. One of his company’s clients was an American firm conducting oil exploration in Venezuela. They had sent one of their employees up to Houston, where Sacchari was tasked to take care of him while he was in town. The visitor had read George Leonard’s book and wanted to go to NASA to see some of these photographs. (This show is available to hear on CyberstationUSA’s link to my radio archives.) Sacchari and his new friend began a three-week comedy of errors which they endured just long enough to finally make it to the photo archives. According to Sacchari;

“Vito: - Yes, but the occasion quickly turned more solemn, since we knew what we were looking at and what it meant. It wasn't a game anymore.

Don Ecker: And what were you looking at?

Vito: The great majority of what we saw looked like excavation-type or construction activity. Coming from the petrochemical industry, we were familiar with building refineries. In the photos, there were pipelines, pipe fittings, what looked like construction equipment. I can’t say these were comparable to a bulldozer, but it was earth-moving, or moon-moving type of equipment. These things really were huge! The back of the photos had correlating data that would enable you to calculate the sizes of structures in the photos: height, sun angle and so forth. It was simple high school trigonometry to figure it out. But you can’t do that in your head! We didn’t have paper, pencils or calculators. We had to take Leonard’s word for the size of these things. We saw cracks in the lunar surface, like the Grand Canyon, with bridges spanning them, several miles apart. We saw large rectangular structures filling the insides of circular craters, that looked like they were under construction or very ancient. We saw pipelines running over crater rims.

Don Ecker: Were the craters named?

Vito: I believe so, but there were so many of them, and we couldn’t copy them down. I can’t remember from 16 years ago. Believe me, there was no way not to see these things. There were many of what Leonard called “X-drones” in these photos. It reminded us of a circular saw, shaped like an “X.”

During that time period, I had a friend who had just recently retired from a major banking concern here in southern California. He had run the IT department for the bank and was somewhat of an electronic wizard. Bill loved listening to my interviews on the various topics and was especially taken with lunar shows. As it was, Bill was a ham radio extra-class ticket holder and had a ham radio buddy working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Contacting his friend, he asked if JPL had any lunar photos, which they did, so he asked if it would be possible to see some. One afternoon, Bill called me up at UFO Magazine and asked if I could drop by his house, he had something he wanted to share with me. When I arrived, Bill was in his home office doing some scanning. On his desk was a large stack of what looked like photographs, and when I asked what he was doing he told me about his friend. I helped him scan the stack as he had to return the pictures. While going through the stack of pictures, a number of them showed some very amazing artifacts. One in particular shocked me at first look. It showed what appeared to be a pipe running through a crater, the end of it appeared to span what looked like a cliff. An oddly shaped extension could be seen on the end of this thing. I held this photograph covertly for years, waiting for the right venue to release it. After being taken around the block numerous times by television folks, I decided I would not wait any longer. I believe it is safe to assume that NASA will never address this issue, the few astronauts still living will remain mum if they did see striking lunar anomalies, and astronomers today won’t even “waste their time” observing the moon. The United States does not appear to have any plans to return anytime in the foreseeable future; the current administration even canceled our shuttle fleet. It will be interesting to see how the American government acts if the China, India or Japan make serious attempts to go to the moon.

So why did we cancel our lunar missions? After Apollo 17, we had other missions planned, equipment built and astronauts fully trained … yet we suddenly ceased perhaps the most historically and scientifically significant effort our government has made in the modern era. For years hugely titillating rumors have swirled concerning our canceled Apollo program. The basic tenet is that the United States manned space program was “warned off” the moon. Many other rumors have been out there even since the initial Apollo 11 landing: That the astronauts observed huge ships--someone else’s ships-- watching them. Until NASA unequivocally proves this is untenable, I choose to think this is as likely as anything else.

No plans for more lunar missions in America’s future. Decreased funding for our once thriving space agency steadily negates any definitive answer to this ever provocative moon mystery, as well.

Secrets of the CORE STORY of Extraterrestrial Alien Contact
His name is Ingo Swann. In the 1970s, he was one of America's secret weapons brought to bear against the Soviet Union: a psychic spy, personally tested by the CIA. In the 1980s, Swann held a TOP SECRET clearance, and was instrumental in training Army and Defense Intelligence Agency personnel. Swann's psychic methods were a key component in the mind-war arsenal of the USAF, the Army, the Navy, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and many others, hidden deep inside compartments of the government. The story of extraterrestrial human-mind to alien-mind telepathy, dangerous personal encounters, and a near-death experience of coming under laser fire from an extraterrestrial vehicle somewhere in the northern wilderness of Alaska, sounds like pages torn from a science fiction novel. The core of the story is the threat of invasive 'telepathy' to penetrate the human conscious experience.
